Tips to Improve Your Self-Image & Appearance

Improving your self-image and appearance is the quickest way to feeling better about yourself and truly, who doesn’t want to feel better about themselves?  So, how do you kick start some self-love?

Start here:

  • Stop comparing yourself to others. Comparison is the thief of joy.  Accept you for you.  If you aren’t happy with who you are, make changes.
  • Spend time with people who value you and who bring you up. You are the product of the 5 people you hang around with the most.
  • Genuinely accept compliments.  A simple thank you is all that is needed.  You don’t need to discount what someone says to you by putting yourself down in another area.
  • Exercise. You can change your body and as an added bonus, exercise is the best anti-depressent that there is.
  • Get enough sleep.  Having dark circles and puffy eyes to contend with does nothing for your appearance.
  • Stand up straight, smile and keep your eyes up and focused as you go throughout your day. You will look and feel more confident.

What else?

  • Get a little tan.  We all know the sun is bad, but a sunless tan will change your disposition and make you feel healthier (and skinnier)
  • Take care of your skin;  wash it every night and moisturize it twice a day.  And some eye cream wouldn’t hurt either.
  • Ladies, wear heels whenever possible. The higher the better. Legs look fabulous, plus you carry yourself better. It’s an immediate pick me up.
  • Get a manicure.  There is nothing worse than ragged cuticles and chipped polish.
  • Dress neatly and for your body type.  If you don’t know what type you are, ask a friend, or ask me, I’ll tell you the truth.
  • For goodness sake, shower daily and do something with your hair. Seems rudimentary but there’s no bigger turn-off than the smell of dirty hair or greasy locks.
  • Don’t skimp on teeth flossing.  Do it every day.  And over the counter teeth whiteners are genius for brightening up your smile and giving you the confidence you need to flash a smile at a stranger.
  • Lastly, a little lipgloss and some mascara goes a long way. Just sayin’.

If you just make an effort you will see a huge difference in your self-confidence and self-esteem. If  you take good care of you and feel good about how you look, other things just fall into place, however, if your container is cracked it can’t hold anything else in. Make the effort to keep it together.
