By now, we know that all-over moisturizing is one of the keys to beautiful skin, but there are many more little steps that you can take to ensure a healthy, glowing complexion and guarantee a super-soft and touchable outer shell.

Here are the TOP 10:

  • Never rub your face or eyes, especially your eyes. Rubbing your face lets whatever bacteria is on your hands go straight into your pores. This causes all sorts of facial problems including acne, cysts, black heads and other nasty words which I despise even writing the names of. Rubbing your eyes when you are tired or you have allergies and they are itchy is also a big no-no. The eye tissue is so delicate and reacts to anything that touches it causing the dreaded wrinkles.
  • Sleep on your back on a few pillows. I know this is easier said than done, but sleeping on your stomach, or on one side, causes your eyes to be puffy in the morning and also causes wrinkles. Try it, you will see a huge difference in the way you look in the morning.
  • ALWAYS wash your face every night.  You are better off not using a washcloth at all, but if you insist, use baby washclothes for cleansing as they are less abrasive on your face than regular washcloths. There is nothing worse than leaving makeup on your face and going to bed for 8 hours. No matter how tired you are, embed the cleansing into your nightly routine. After washing your face, pat it dry.  Never rub…same rules apply as above.  And slather your face in a serum, then a moisturizer and eye cream before climbing into bed.  And don’t rub that eye cream in, use gentle pats.  Remember, the skin repairs itself overnight. Don’t waste those precious hours.
  • Ban the booze. More than one drink a day causes increased oil production and enlarged pores
  • Slather in SPF!!!!  Make sure your daytime moisturizer is one with SPF included for all of that incidental sun exposure.
  • When exfoliating, do not scrub too hard, it causes broken capillaries.  And, intense heat (saunas, steam rooms and spicy foods) make them worse.
  • Apply lip balm multiple times daily and always before bed to guarantee super soft kissable lips and minimize wrinkling around the lip area too.  Also, please don’t lick your lips – ever!
  • Every night, before bed, slater your feet in Aquaphor or some other intense moisturizer and sleep with socks on for super soft feet in the morning.
  • Use a salicylic acid for treating the bikini line after waxing.  This will stop redness, ingrown hairs and soothe bumps.
  • Eat lots of hydrating fruits and veggies to plump up the skin.

I like all your rules here except one. Which explains all the enlarged pores on my face! 🙂 Great info! I need it more now than ever!
