Toning Shoes Don’t Work

by Laura Kronen on April 13, 2011

Sorry to give you the news.  But, researchers have found no difference in heart rate, calories burned or muscle activity in the butt, back, abdomen, thighs or calves testing toning shoes vs. running shoes.  So, you arent going to get a great butt by doing your food shopping bouncing up and down the frozen food aisle.

The reason you might think they are working is that when you first wear them you are going to be a little sore because you using different muscles for balance. But, the truth is, you are never going to get a better body without real effort.

The only thing toning shoes might have going for them (because it is not style) is that they are comfortable and that might encourage physical activity in those that wear them.  Truthfully, your best best is to get a good pair of cross trainers and hit the pavement running.
