⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Inspiring, Informative, Heartwarming and Funny ~ Kristy D

I never thought of homeschooling as an option for my family, until I was forced into the role of full-time elementary school teacher during this year’s quarantine. I had no idea what I was doing, but I knew I had to figure it out quickly for the sake of my children’s education (and my own sanity!). Finding this book was a Godsend!!! Homeschool Happily has been a guiding light on my journey through homeschooling, and Laura Kronen gave me the inspiration I needed to make the decision to continue home-educating my two children. If you are at a crossroad between homeschooling and traditional schooling, look no further! Laura does an incredible job of weighing the pros and cons for you in this book. It is well-written, informative, heartwarming and funny, and it could not have come at a better time!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Homeschooling Parents Really Need This Book! ~ Dr. Shellie H

I have my doctorate in Educational Leadership... I have led traditional classrooms in the public school, I was an assistant principal at school for children with emotional and behavioral needs, and I was a tenured educational professor for a decade at a private university. When Covid-19 hit, everyone began teaching or at least guiding from home. Now this school year, I am launching into a homeschooling model with an online curriculum and I was excited to read this book. Because even those who have educational credentials, need to to frame their presentation differently when it comes to working with their own children from home. I found this insightful and well laid out to prepare a parent to homeschool.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Parents - this is what you've been looking for! ~ Becky Bayne

Laura Kronen has perfect timing! This book is THE resource for anyone considering homeschooling and looking for answers to what is really involved. Her sense of humor, common sense and practical recommendations will give you the confidence you need to take on this new challenge! I found the chapters on curriculum for every grade especially helpful. Finally - I loved the inspirational and hilarious quotes sprinkled throughout the book - personal wisdom and encouragement from the author's experience homeschooling her own boys! Stop worrying, get the book, the answers you need are here!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Game Changer ~ Dondi V

If just the thought of homeschooling has you feeling anxious and overwhelmed, you need this book.
It is an easy read and guide to Homeschooling successfully, not stressfully.
The book covers everything Homeschool: Budgets, curriculums, activities, socialization and daily life skills. The life skills she talks about are not just for your child as she shares some great insights/tips for you too as the new educator parent.
I would also highly recommend this book for anybody that has been forced into distance learning due to the pandemic. "Home School Happily is really a good resource to have on hand as it has great recommendations and references for every grade level, K-12.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Absolutely Vital for the Newbie ~ DGONFOX

I’m a TV news journalist. I bought this book as research for a story on home schooling during the pandemic. Honesty, if my daughters were still school age, especially given the world today, I would take home schooling head on after reading this. Laura took the mystery out of home schooling and made it accessible, approachable, and easy to understand. I have and will continue to recommend Home School Happily to everyone interested in home schooling. Very well done! 5 ⭐️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Super Informative and Witty ~Anonymous

Love the content in this book. It’s an easy read that puts homeschool into perspective for even the most weary minds. Laura Kronen is a genius and so witty. Glad she was able to share such great information

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Great resource for parent’s considering homeschooling! ~Rose

For anyone considering homeschooling I highly recommend reading this book as a starting point.
Concise but detailed enough to guide you through the process.
Author adds in bits of her personality to make it light and easy to read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great Advice! ~ Michael L.F. Slavin

I speak from experience, my wife homeschooled our son through the 4th grade. he is now grown, graduated Yale with honors, and Harvard Law at the top of his class. This book has a lot of great advice and examples.
Good luck, get it and read it if you are considering homeschooling or in the middle of it now.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Dismantling the Stereotypes Surrounding a Homeschooled Education ~Yecheilyah

Homeschool Happily is more than a guide that teaches parents and professionals about the many benefits of homeschooling. The author's down-to-earth persona made me feel like I was sitting at her kitchen table, listening to her talk about this journey. I could see her showing me the outlines for the skills and concepts for each subject. Usually, I am not a fan of forwards when it comes to non-fiction (get to the point already), but this was a good one. The author begins with a substantial breakdown of the difference between Quarantine Schooling/Pandemic Crisis Schooling and Homeschooling, which are not the same things.
Homeschool Happily made me happy to read it because it was easy to understand (no unnecessary five-dollar words to get the point across). The author discusses what homeschooling is, what homeschooling is not, and the stigmas that still exist for parents who homeschool. The author talks about the reasons why someone may choose to Homeschool such as flexibility, travel, religious reasons, politics, vaccination exemption, avoiding racism, high-quality education, e.g.. She dismantles the stereotypes surrounding a Homeschooled education with common sense breakdowns and tips on structuring curriculum and managing a homeschooled budget. (This was a great breakdown. Most people don't think of a budget when it comes to Homeschool.)
As someone already on the Homeschool bandwagon, I enjoyed the resources and educational tools, tips on managing the subjects for your children, and the advice on standardized testing and AP exams the most. It provided not only a what but also how. I think staying on top of testing is so important. Because Homeschool is still looked at as taboo, parents might want to keep these kinds of records.
I did not need to be convinced that homeschooling can provide high-quality education. Still, for someone who is not yet sure about homeschooling and how it differs from traditional schooling, what it is, and how it is done, this is the perfect manual for that parent or professional. I would even recommend purchasing the paperback so you can highlight and take notes.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️5.0 out of 5 stars Engaging, Informative, Inspiring, Reassuring Guide for Aspirational Homeschoolers - Suzy Davies

If you are thinking about homeschooling your child or perhaps, you already are a homeschooler who needs reassurance and support, this book is highly recommended.
Organized in step-by step chapters, the book covers all the concerns and issues you may have, for example, what your personal rationale may be for homeschooling, the pros and cons of homeschooling, how to deal with critical people and remain unphased, how to design a curriculum and plan learning, and how to take care of yourself as the mom, (or dad,) teacher and principal of your school at home.
Although I was educated through the public system, I share the belief with the author that there is something very unnatural about being confined in a brick building in order to learn about the real world.
In this book, the author shows how homeschooling, if it is right for you and your child, can make learning fun; children are naturally curious and positive and they will easily engage with things in which they are interested. This, according to the book, is where homeschooling comes in.
The author delivers her information and advice in a savvy, chatty and often humourous way and the facts she presents are the result of thorough, extensive research into practicalities.
This book is important given that more and more parents are moving towards homeschooling, especially given the Covid times in which we are living.
Of course, as the author points out, homeschooling is not "online learning" to a public school curriculum. Good homeschooling takes into account the individual needs of each child. This is a far cry form the "one size fits all" approach or teaching to a particular milestone or exam that can sometimes be seen in public schools.
The author points out that it is always possible to create learning opportunities that a child may "miss" because they are homeschooled. She discusses opportunities with Co-ops, and organisations which offer sport or arts opportunities to homeschooled kids, and the possibilities that hiring teachers for specific lessons can create. Of course field trips are a great way to encourage learning, and the author shows how homeschoolers take the opportunity to go out into the wider world to expand children's horizons.
Perhaps what resonated with me the most was that the book emphasized the creative aspects of learning, and the joy that learning with family can be, among those we love and who love us.
Far from advocating molly-coddled, spoilt children, the author discusses how to foster independence, discipline, good habits and self-reliance in children which will prepare them for the challenges they will encounter in their lives. She also busts many of the myths associated with homeschooling, for example, that only eccentric people homeschool, and that homeschooling creates kids who are socially awkward.
There is a handy resources reference guide at the back of this excellent book, which is indispensable to anyone serious about homeschooling.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Absolutely PERFECT timing + relatable, real-life stories and information! ~ Kristin A
This book could not have come along at a better time. Now that I, and the rest of the world, are considering homeschooling as an option for our children’s education, Homeschool Happily provided exactly the information I was looking for. What’s even better, the material is delivered in such a fresh, funny, and extremely relatable way (the author even mentions wine - which I am pretty sure many homeschoolers - myself included - may need!). The real-life stories intertwined with an incredible amount of facts and resources, have equipped me with the confidence to take this on….in whatever from homeschooling or distance learning may come!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Dispels the Myths of Homeschooling ~ Pat Mitchell

The best book I have read on Homeschooling that shows why it is different from "pandemic or crisis homeschooling" as it is focused on the interests of the child and the parent, and learning is imparted at a pace that is conducive to a child's growth and understanding with equal emphasis on social interaction, field trips and events attendance. The book does a wonderful job of laying out annual homeschooling costs (a little over $1,800 per child per year), resources and web links to get the best online education from kindergarten all the way through to high school that can lead your child to get great education at home and also not have to miss the real-world skills required in college and university. The book makes a convincing case for homeschooling with the author's personal experience of homeschooling her own children effectively. A must-read book for parents considering homeschooling. It answers all the questions and revisits the need to look at education and growth differently.

Excellent Tool - Ginny

This is really an excellent book for those considering (or even if it has just crossed your mind) homeschooling. The author gives reasons that many people decide to home school, and gives her reasons ("I've seen the village and I don't want it raising my child." Perfect!!!!). She gives a list of things to consider when making a home school budget, ideas she considers for developing a curriculum for each grade level, and discussed college (enrollment, CLEP tests, and dual enrollment). She even covers some of things that she includes that the students would not get in regular schools (time management, cooking, money management). Oh, and one of my favorite sections: tons of resources (online and otherwise) for help with all aspects of home schooling (teaching certain topics, etc.). Great source of information.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Excellent Food For Thought ~ Dan Santos

The author has done a terrific job of describing what home schooling should be, its advantages and disadvantages.
To begin, home schooling is not COVID19 distance learning. That temporary measure draws from public and private schooling formats, with all their advantages and disadvantages.
Homeschooling involves preparing a syllabus, lesson plans and supporting activities. Children can benefit from individualized attention, adequate rest, healthier food and diminished disruptions from other children.
Reasons parents give for home schooling involve health and politics, among others. It also depends on the parents’ abilities. However, studies have shown it can be superior to public and private schooling.
The author gives us food for thought. Excellent! It’s worth your time and money. Five Stars!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Helpful and relatable guide - jth

Timing is everything, and this book is no exception. With so much uncertainty about whether school will reopen this fall, I found myself scouring Amazon and social media for resources on homeschooling. Home School Happily has been one of my best finds. The author is relatable, and the material is fresh and informative. I have high school students, so I appreciate the tips on AP classes and college prep. Even though I’m a former teacher, I never thought I’d consider homeschooling. However these are wild times and uncertain times, so I’d like to be prepared. This book gave me inspiration, some laughs, and lots of detailed info to start on the journey.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Yes, We Can! ~ E. Navarette

I’ve often thought about homeschooling my son, then thoughts about financial stability creep in. I love her Irritation when the shut down happened and every parent said they were homeschooling. It’s not the same thing. I feel the same when animal lovers say raising a dog is the same as a child. It’s not the same thing but I digress. This book is a wonderful book to start the process of homeschooling. She makes great arguments for homeschooling that makes me second guess sending my child to public school. Excellent book to look at if you’re thinking of homeschooling. Recommend!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Covers All the Bases ~ Carol Alwood

If you're thinking about the pros and cons of homeschooling your child, this resource will help you think through all of the issues. I like the colorful quotes throughout the book. I like the points made and resources listed. As a teacher and a mom, I feel qualified to say this book will help you think through all the homeschooling issues from feeling successful to thinking about college. It liked how it was a simple format. I may be a public school teacher, but I believe families deserve the right to homeschool their children!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Homeschooling Success ~ ADiffend

I love the way Laura infused her humor while giving real world examples of how to homeschool without losing your mind. This book really encourages and empowers parents to be successful. This book is perfectly timed as many of us are seriously considering homeschooling our children and reading Laura's expert tips really gives me confidence that, yes, I can do this. I can do this in a way that works best for me and my kids- everyone's idea of homeschooling will be different- that's ok! Thank you Laura Kronen!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great resource for those who may be new to homeschooling ~ Kris Villager

I didn't graduate with a degree in education, but I did graduate, and I read a lot, and I was pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of ideas and suggestions.
Would have liked to have heard more about the transition of a child that is home-schooled from homeschooling back to state-sponsored or private academia, either in middle school, high school or at the college level and more about standardized testing. That said, the material that was presented was very good.
The author has a pretty outspoken viewpoint politically, which may not or may not serve the material well, but the ideas are well-thought out, and that's what I'm grading for.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Thankful to have read this - Mel C

I'm so happy to have found this book as we are just weeks away from the next school year beginning. I have been looking for a little inspiration for tackling homeschooling for my youngest child for the first time, and this book has seriously inspired me.
A broad overview of the life of a homeschooling family, this book was full of wit and very relatable. It gives plenty of concrete material relevant to what the challenges that children of various ages will face as well as a hearty dose of encouragement. If you need a little help envisioning how to begin your homeschool journey, I strongly recommend that you get a copy of this book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Inspirational and Worth Reading - Mert DAMLAPINAR
It is clear and concise and it provides real-world examples with thought-provoking facts. It also features helpful examples.
Homeschool Happily is a modern-day fresh approach to homeschooling that is full of humor and insight.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️An informative book for these trying times ~ Jessica Hatch

As governments at the federal, state, and local levels figure out how to "reopen safely" in fall 2020, Laura Kronen's book offers a much safer, in my opinion, and more academically intensive alternative to sending your kids to school two or three days a week: HOMESCHOOL. Kronen covers all sorts of subjects, from curricula for elementary schoolers up to high school seniors to how to make sure your child's courses are accredited when the time for college applications rolls around; she answers practically every quandary any parent who has considered home schooling has wondered but been too afraid to ask.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! ~ LuckyLucyLee

I've had SOO many questions about homeschooling and wasn't sure if I'd be able to manage it, but this book truly delivers valuable content that can help you get over that hump and take the leap on your own. Hoping there will be and advance follow-up, ex: "A Day, Week, Month, & Year in the Life in the Day of a Happy Homeschooler"! :-D

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Homeschool Your Way ~ Lisa H

There are so many reasons to homeschool today. Not just the pandemic, but bullying, bad teachers, the toxic environment, the bad lunches, the drugs, the violence, and on and on. This book offers hope for those looking to homeschool their children. It's an inspiring and enlightening read. I happen to have started homeschooling in 2015, and find this book a good read for those who are seeking information on getting started! Homeschooling is a great way to go!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Full of Information ~ Cassie

Homeschool Happily is full of first-hand experiences and a wealth of information. For a family that has been considering homeschooling, but has felt overwhelmed with all of the information and how to begin, we found this book to be helpful, informative, and thought-provoking.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Useful, Helpful, Sanity-Saving ~ Mrs. Whatsit

The book we've all needed this year. The government should include free copies of this in the next stimulus package. If you are struggling with homeschooling your kids, I highly recommend this book. It's a great launchpad for beginners and people in their first few years of home-schooling alike. You'll not only learn "the ropes," so to speak, you'll also learn the long-term gains and values of this type of education. Highly recommended!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Educational & Informative - George D

This book couldn’t have come at a better time. I have been struggling for a while now as to what is in my kids best interest. Do I send them to public school and let teachers whose values are not in line with mine teach / brainwash them or do I take ownership of educating my own children with the traditional values I grew up with? This book has provided me with the foundation and roadmap on how to successfully home school my children. It took all the fears out of if I could do it or not. If you are nervous about home schooling or don’t think you can, I will be the first one to tell you “Yes You Can”. Thank you Laura Kronen!!!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Anything you will possibly need to know about homeschooling ~Felicia

I never expect I would be homeschooling my kids. However due the pandemic I decided to choose a safer route and this book is super helpful highlighting the pros and cons. As a mom of two, I found it super useful to have information for different enrichment programs to help supplement the school curriculum. Great read and worth the investment!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Hilarious & Relevant ~ Eric

I wasn't expecting this to be as laugh out loud as it was, but it worked well with the message and strewn out information. A very relevant piece, given the world situation and how education will roll forward in the upcoming months.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An invaluable resource for anyone considering home-schooling their children ~ Valerie

A practical guide for struggling parents, Homeschool Happily: Yes, You Can! provides a fresh, insightful guide to home schooling. The author provides answers to those nagging questions that bother every homeschooling parent, addressing issues such as the need for socialization and avoiding burnout, and succinctly destroys all the myths and cliches associated with homeschooling. It's a lengthy but highly entertaining read, at times quite humorous. As previous reviewers have pointed out, the author has her own political views, to which she is completely entitled - do not let this deter you from purchasing this invaluable resource!
